Moncton native Heather Anne Ritchie set to launch Heather Anne Communications with a focus on promoting Atlantic Canada's ICT sector.
Heather Anne Ritchie has had a passion for technology since childhood, however could never quite get comfortable logging hours behind a desk designing or programming. While she was always fascinated by the way in which skilled developers could turn 0's and 1's into functioning assets, she knew that side of the business wasn't for her. Born with the gift of gab and a genuine desire to help others, Heather Anne has developed a niche in communications and technology, helping innovative companies translate technology to the everyday person.
Frustrated with the lack of general awareness of the innovative companies being formed within the local start-up community, Heather Anne Communications was formed to act as a strategic partner to early to mid-stage companies and to established firms looking for new ideas.
Heather Anne emphasized the value in being first to market as it relates to introducing your innovative or new technology. “From an IP perspective, if you're doing it first it's critical people know about it, at least conceptually, early on. Securing media coverage, publishing communication and emerging yourself in the right circles is extremely important. Gauging responsiveness from the public is also extremely beneficial when trying to do a proof of concept, or test multiple scenarios.”
She blames lack of time, money and an ever-evolving business model for the reason most early-stage companies fall short in finding time to build and execute a communications strategy. “These brilliant entrepreneurs are so focused on developing the technology, hiring, securing capital and finding their product-market fit that it just don't make sense to hire someone full-time to chase them around for answers to communications-related questions,” she explains. “I'm here to fill that gap, assisting these companies in a retainer or project-based capacity to find unique opportunities to build strategies and to communicate on their behalf.”
Heather Anne Ritchie boasts an impressive stream of credentials including having been asked to represent Eastern Canada at SXSW's Technology Summit (Austin, TX), representing her previous employer (Lymbix Inc) at the Heidelberg Innovation Forum (Heidelberg, Germany) and recently speaking alongside Arlene Dickinson at the IGNITE Conference on Leadership here in Moncton, NB.
She was recently named among a list of social medias heavy hitters as “The Brand Evangelist” by REDGATE Communications for her work generating brand awareness globally.
